We value your privacy. This privacy policy explains how Secure Nest (“us” “we” “our”) deals with personal information. References to ‘personal information’ means any information which is identifiable as being about an individual. This policy relates to Secure Nest’s use of information provided to us, which is distinct and separate from the handling of information by Users between each other.

The laws of Australia apply to the privacy arrangements referred to in this policy regardless of where you are located when you submit your personal information.

We have designed Secure Nest to meet the requirements outlined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for European Union (EU) citizens. However, our site does not meet the requirements outlined by the United States’ Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). If you are a citizen of, or located in, the United States, you should not use or access Secure Nest.

If you do not agree with this policy, do not access our site, use our Services or interact with any aspect of our business.

Personal information we collect

We collect information from Users of our website www.securenest.org (“the Site”). Secure Nest provides a web based Application (“the Application”) which as a product facilitates the sharing of information between two parties (a Therapist and a Client), or, between multiple parties in a group setting (a Therapist and a number of Clients). This may also include the collection of ‘sensitive information’ which refers to health or medical information. You will be asked to provide consent to this occurring and it will be your choice whether to do so. If you decide not to share such information, then it may affect your use of the Application.

Secure Nest only collects personal information that is directly provided to us. We collect information in a variety of ways, including when you contact us, visit our site, register for the Application, subscribe to our newsletter, or fill out our contact form. We only collect the information necessary to provide you our services, to manage our business affairs and to conduct research (when you have provided consent).

The following types of personal information may be collected, stored, and used by Secure Nest:

  • information about your computer or device including your IP address, internet service provider, geographical location, browser type and version, and operating system;
  • information about your visits to and use of this site including the referral source, length of visit, page views, and navigation paths;
  • information, such as your email address, name, photo and location that you enter when you register with our website;
  • information, such as your name and email address, that you enter in order to set up subscriptions to our emails and/or newsletters;
  • information that you enter while using the services and features on our website;
  • information that is generated while using our website, including when, how often, and under what circumstances you use it;
  • information relating to anything you purchase, services you use, or transactions you make through our website, which may include your name, address, telephone number, email address, and payment details;
  • information that you post to our website with the intention of publishing it to other site members, including your username, name, profile picture, and the content of your comments or completed activities;
  • information contained in any communications that you send to us by email or through our website, including its communication content and metadata;
  • any other personal information that you send to us.

Before you disclose to us the personal information of another person, you must obtain that person’s consent to both the disclosure and the processing of that personal information in accordance with this policy. We recommend that Therapists who collect information through the Application have your own privacy policy to explain how you handle your Client’s information that is provided through the Secure Nest Application.

Information provided through the Application

The Application provides a workspace for a Therapist and Client (or Clients) to communicate with each other. This communication includes things such as homework tasks, messaging and other therapeutic techniques. The way that Users use the Application, and the information provided is provided voluntarily and in the sole discretion of the Users.

How we use your information

We first and foremost use your information to provide our services to you. This includes billing, communicating with Users and assisting Users with the Site. We will use your email address to keep you updated with information about our products and services, but you can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time. We also use feedback to improve our service.

On registration or at any time (in your account profile) you may provide permission for us to use your anonymous (de-identified) data in research. Only de-identified data/aggregated findings will be analysed and reported/used. You may revoke this permission (in your account profile) at any time; however, due to the anonymity of the data (once extracted) we will be unable to remove any of your de-identified data that has already been extracted or used in research.

Personal information submitted to us through our website will be used for the purposes specified in this policy or on the relevant pages of the website. We may use your personal information for the following:

  • administering our website and business;
  • personalising our website for you;
  • enabling your use of the services available on our website;
  • supplying services purchased through our website;
  • sending statements, invoices, and payment reminders to you, and collecting payments from you;
  • sending you non-marketing commercial communications;
  • sending you email notifications that you have requested;
  • sending you our email newsletter, if you have requested it (you can inform us at any time if you no longer require the newsletter);
  • providing third parties with statistical information about our users (but those third parties will not be able to identify any individual user from that information);
  • dealing with inquiries and complaints made by or about you relating to our website;
  • keeping our website secure and prevent fraud;
  • verifying compliance with the terms and conditions governing the use of our website; and

If you submit personal information for publication on our website, we will publish and otherwise use that information in accordance with the license you grant to us.

Except as described in this policy, we will not provide your personal information to third parties. We will not, without your consent, supply your personal information to any third party for their or any other third party’s direct marketing. We may disclose information to our business affiliates who assist us, but this is most likely to be in an unidentified, aggregate manner.

If, in the course of providing our services to our Clients, we obtain access to personal and/or sensitive information in the Application, we will not use (including keep or copy) that information other than as set out in this Privacy Policy.

International data transfers

We collect information globally and primarily store that information on our server in Germany. We transfer, process and store your information outside of your country of residence, to wherever we, Secure Nest or our third party service providers operate for the purpose of providing you services. Third party service providers we use on Secure Nest include:

PayPal (payment service provider)
Google Analytics (analytics service provider)
YouTube (video service provider)
Facebook (marketing / advert provider)

Some of the third parties described in this privacy policy, which provide services to us, are based in other countries that may not have equivalent privacy and data protection laws to the country in which you reside. We recommend that you review the terms and conditions and privacy policy of the third party services we use.

Personal information that you publish on our website or submit for publication on our website may be available, via the internet, around the world. We cannot prevent the use or misuse of such information by others.

You expressly agree to the transfers of personal information described in this section.

Retaining personal information

Personal information that we process for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes.

We retain your account information until you delete your account.

We may retain documents (including electronic documents) containing personal data:

  • to the extent that we are required to do so by law;
  • if we believe that the documents may be relevant to any ongoing or prospective legal proceedings; and
  • in order to establish, exercise, or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention and reducing credit risk).


Security of your personal information

Secure Nest will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of personal information provided to us.

We will store all the personal information you provide on our secure (password and firewall protected) server. Secure Nest incorporates the use of an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate and HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) for all pages.

You acknowledge that the transmission of information over the internet can be inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet.

You are responsible for keeping the password you use for accessing our website confidential; we will not ask you for your password (except when you log in to our website). You should use a strong password, ensure the password differs to any other site you access and update it regularly.

You are responsible for safe practices to protect your personal information and that of others you may have access to via Secure Nest. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • keeping your computer or device updated;
  • keeping your computer or device protected with antivirus and a firewall;
  • ensuring the security of the email address associated with your account (which can be used to reset your Secure Nest password);
  • keeping your computer or device password protected and locked when not in use; and
  • avoiding your password being saved into any browser or retrievable form.

All PayPal billing information is transmitted directly by Users to our third party payment provider. This means, that you leave our site when you make a payment and Secure Nest does not have access to your payment information. Accordingly, we recommend that you review the terms and conditions and privacy policy of our third party provider.

Change or access your information

It is important that your information is accurate at all times so we ask that you keep the information contained in your profile up to date. The email address used for your account can only be updated by sending an email with the request to [email protected], this request should originate from the email address you currently have associated with the account.

You are entitled by law to access the information that Secure Nest collects about you. You can download the personal information stored in your Secure Nest account at any time via the button provided in your profile.

You may instruct us to provide you with any other personal information we hold about you; provision of such information will be subject to the following:

  • The supply of appropriate evidence of your identity (for this purpose, we will usually accept a photocopy of your passport certified by a notary and the request must come from the email address associated with your Secure Nest account).

We may withhold personal information that you request to the extent permitted by law.

You may change your personal information stored in Secure Nest at any time by editing the content via the features provided. You may delete your account on Secure Nest at any time via the button provided in your profile. If your account is deleted from Secure Nest, it is irreversible and we are unable to retrieve it on your behalf.

Secure Nest is a software provider, and we cannot grant you access to information that is proprietary information owned by your Therapist. You will need to speak to your Therapist, if you want access to information that is held by the Therapist including if that information is held using the Secure Nest application.

You may instruct us at any time not to process your personal information for marketing purposes. In practice, you will usually either expressly agree in advance to our use of your personal information for marketing purposes, or we will provide you with an opportunity to opt out of the use of your personal information for marketing purposes.

Use of cookies

Our website utilise cookies and other tracking technologies (such as Pixels and Hotjar) to collect additional website usage data for marketing purposes and to improve our services. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer's hard disk. Cookies allow us to better understand how you interact with our services, to improve and customize our services, monitor web traffic activity, aggregate usage of our website services and for marketing purposes.

Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.

The cookies and tracking technologies we use include:

ci_session: Cookie associated with the CodeIgniter framework for building PHP based applications. Used to maintain a user state during a browser session for consistancy of user experience.

user_lang: Cookie associated with PHP based applications. Used to maintain the language selection throughout the site.

_ga, _gid & _gat: These cookies are associated with Google Analytics for monitoring and analysing site traffic. These cookies are used to distinguish unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier. It is included in each page request in a site and used to calculate visitor, session and campaign data for the sites analytics reports.

Facebook Pixel: A Facebook pixel is an analytics tool that helps us to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. We use the Facebook pixel to understand the actions people are taking on our website and reach audiences that we believe may have an interest in our website.

If you choose NOT to accept cookies, you can instruct your browser to stop accepting cookies or delete those which already exist by changing the browser settings. Services may however not function correctly or fully if you disable cookies.

Persons Under 18

The application on this website is not available to persons under the age of 18.

Please contact [email protected] immediately should you become aware that a person under the age of 18 has registered an account. Accounts found to have been registered by a person under 18 years of age will be de-registered and their personal information deleted.

We will endeavour to respond to you within 30 days, and we will reply to the email account that you used when registering with us.
